The $1,000,000 purse of the Belmont Stakes which pits 3 year olds against each other in a 1 1/2 mile race is matched with the Jockey Club Gold Cup which challenges 3 year old and up thoroughbreds in a 1 1/4 mile race.
Additionally, Belmont Park offers several $750,000 purse races, including the Metropolitan Handicap, the Flower Bowl Invitational, and the Beldame, races that continue to attract some of the most talented jockeys and horses.
