Located 15 minutes from downtown Houston, Sam Houston Race Park opened in 1994, and hosts both thoroughbred and Quarter horse racing in two seperate race meets. It is also a popular concert venue and contains a permant facility for concerts located in the infield.

Sam Houston features a one-mile dirt track and a 7/8 mile inner turf course. It also boast 19 luxury suites in the granstand overlooking the track.

As the premier race track in east Texas, Sam Houston Race Park typically produces 10-race cards daily during both the thoroughbred and Quarter horse meet. The track also features Arabian breed racing. Simulcast wagering is available seven days a week.
As a noted concert venue, the track has a dedicated infield stage, and hosts the annual ZiegenBock Music Festival.
