Canterbury Park
As horse racing tracks go, Canterbury Park is very young at just around 25 years old. In 1982, voters in Minnesota approved an amendment that allowed pari-mutuel betting. Two years later, ground was broken for Minnesota’s first parimutuel racetrack.
Canterbury Track Layout
The main dirt track at Canterbury features two chutes to provide for racing at 3 1/2 and 6 1/2 furlongs as well as 1 1/4 miles. It holds both thoroughbred and Quarter horse racing.

Did you know that Canterbury Park was home of the 1999 election night party for Gubernatorial candidate Jesse Ventura? Today, the Canterbury Park is home to great horse racing betting action and entertainment events. Racing takes place on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and the holidays from May through the beginning of September.
