Monmouth Racetrack
Originally known as Long Branch racetrack when it opened in 1870, Monmouth Park is located in beautiful Oceanport New Jersey. Monmouth Racetrack holds horse racing action five months of the year, May through to September. It once had a special train for racegoers called The Pony Express.

The main track is a one mile long oval. It contains four inches of cushion, which is comprised of sand and topsoil. They also have chutes for the six furlong and one and one-fourth miles races.

Monmouth Park has a grandstand that is capable of seating 13,000 horse racing fans. The Clubhouse seats an additional 5,000 horse racing fans. Tracking your horse during a race is never a problem thanks to the 600 color televisions that are located all over Monmouth Racetrack. Monmouth Park Race Track even features a free handicapping seminar. In the seminar the day’s races are analyzed. It’s a must attend for anyone that’s going to put money down on the races.
One of the premier events each season is the Haskell Invitational Handicap. The event is named after Amory L. Haskell who was born in New York City in 1893. He was instrumental in the formation of the Monmouth Park Jockey Club. In 1968, Monmouth Park Directors decided to honor his passing with a new race – the Haskell Invitational Handicap. The race is a mile and an eight in length and the nation’s top three-year olds are invited to participate. Every year the Haskell Invitational Handicap has grown and it’s a highly anticipated event in the horse racing world.
