The Pocono Downs racetrack was purchased in January of 2005 by the Mohegan tribal gaming authority (MTGA). The Pocono Downs racetrack was purchased for $280 million. In 2006, the race track and Mohegan Sun, a casino area which features slot machines, food courts, and offices began to be constructed. The Mohegan tribal gaming authority has spent millions of dollars on an extensive renovation project for Pocono Downs.
